About Us

Uncle Mafufo (Armando) teaches Middle Eastern rhythms and techniques for Doumbek and frame drum in his own distinctive style, relaxed and friendly with humor and sensitivity. He provides clear information about how the rhythms relate to Middle Eastern music as well as the beauty of the rhythms themselves. He put some of his knowledge about playing Doumbek, Frame Drums and Finger Cymbals (Zills) on DVDs and CDs.

As the lead drummer in the duo Sirocco Armando enjoys providing Middle Eastern music for belly dancers and lovers of the genre. Armando records and performs with national and international musicians and is active in the Middle Eastern musical world. His original compositions on CD reveal the possibilities of rhythm as a focal point in music. His expertise is recognized and honored and he has the pleasure to be invited as performer and teacher for shows, workshops, and seminars. On Delilah's BellyDance Retreats in Hawaii from 1992-2004 and on her videos, Sirocco is the in-house band and Armando the resident doumbek instructor.
